Neta Elkayam and her ensemble in a special performance dedicated to vocalist Zohara Al Fassia, the greatest diva to emerge from Moroccan Jewry. Al Fassia was the first woman in Morocco to record a musical album. Her popular songs were played on Moroccan and Algerian radio and Muhammad V, king of Morocco, was impressed with her talent and invited her to sing at his court. Al Fassia recorded 17 albums before immigrating to Israel in 1962. At the peak of her career, in the last interview she gave before her death, she said: "In Israel I suffered from loneliness... I feared that after my death no one would remember who Zohra Al Fassia was." Elkayam and her ensemble present Al Fassia’s classics in their original form, the musicians accompanying Neta's unusual voice, filled with North African influences. This is the first time that numerous works from Al Fassia’s repertoire receive a new musical interpretation, revealing her unique character and the tenderness and toughness, pioneering spirit and mystery in her life.
